Mansfield Holiday have gained a zealous following in the North East, packing out gigs. John Robb, journalist and Membranes founder described Mansfield Holiday as having "quirky indie pop tunes, very English with an art school eccentric feel and a touch of Franz Ferdinand... Like Pulp with a tougher undertow provided by a bass that threatens to snarl". Blogging about Mansfield Holiday on rivmixx.com John Robb said Mansfield Holiday have "a sound of boho eccentricity with a sassy electricity and a love of early eighties John Peel noise but with an ear for a tough, linear pop tune". Mansfield Holiday are also in March's Artrocker where they described Mansfield Holiday as "fusing the leftfield post-punk of Art Brut with the classic indie of The Smiths and early Pulp"

Previously, Roger and Vix were in a band with Michael and Dave from Frankie and the Heartstrings. This ended in an on stage bust up in front of an audience that thought it was all part of the show!
